STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
-
What can I expect from a course?
Each course is a series of recorded live lessons.
A course typically has four lessons, but some consist of one or two.Lessons usually run 90-110 minutes and include everything you need – warmup, conditioning, breakdown of the combos/choreo, and a cool down.
The classes in a series build on each other. We start with the basics and increase difficulty with every lesson. But don’t worry, I provide fresh material with every class! No lesson is the same.
I also address common questions and give real-time feedback to students who joined the live sessions.
In choreo classes, we break down each move in detail, then dance to music several times.
In Lyrical Pole, the last class is about flow, expression, and making the choreography your own.
-
Which class type is right for me?

Dance & Choreos: Level up your dance skills, flow, musicality, and expression on the pole.
Flexibility: Understand your body’s anatomy and learn how to stretch effectively for pole.

How can I tell if a course matches my level?
You’ll find the PREREQUISITES for each course on the course page – this is key when deciding if a course suits your level.
When you become a member, we help you evaluate your current level and goals, and we help you decide where to start.
But even if you’re not a member, you can filter classes by level on our catalog page.
Here’s how we define levels at ThePoleDancer:
Beginner: We work on basic spins, sits & climbs, as well as easy upright shapes.
Beginner/Intermediate: More spins, sits & climbs, and introduction to first inverted tricks – either through a basic invert from the floor or from an upright position. E.g. head/elbow Stand, Crucifix, and Handstand Butterfly.
Intermediate level: Invert from the floor is required. We work on fundamental inverted tricks like Leg hangs, Butterfly, Jade, and more difficult moves like Superman and Ballerina. You’ll also learn transitional moves, like Jasmine, Genie, and Dragonfly, with conditioning for aerial inverts.
Intermediate/Advanced: Aerial invert is required. We work towards 2-contact point moves like Brass Monkey, Ayesha, and Shoulder Mounts, along with Power spins, a.k.a. one-arm spins.
Advanced: Focus on tricks with very few contact points, strength-based tricks (e.g. handspring and deadlifts), or tricks that require exceptional flexibility (e.g. Allegra Split, Broken Doll, Eagle).
This level also includes Elite/Pro skills. Not sure of your level? Watch our Pole Curriculum video here.
